Six areas

The practice, in six pages.

01

GP appointments

How to get an appointment: same-day help from 8am for things that cannot wait, routine appointments up to four weeks ahead, phone and video consultations, and home visits for people who cannot come in. Who you will see, how long it takes, and what to do out of hours.

Same-day slots released 8am by phone or online.

02

Nurse and healthcare assistant clinics

Most of what happens at the surgery happens in the nurses' rooms: blood tests, blood pressure checks, dressings and stitches out, cervical screening, travel and childhood vaccinations, ear care, contraception and the annual reviews for long-term conditions. Bookable directly, no GP needed.

Book directly with reception or online; no GP appointment needed first.

03

Repeat prescriptions

Order a repeat prescription online through the NHS Wales App, by the prescription line between 10am and 4pm, or by putting the slip in the box at reception. It is ready for your chosen pharmacy within two working days. Medication reviews with the practice pharmacist.

Two working days from ordering to the pharmacy.

04

Baby, child and family health

The baby clinic with the health visitors on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, the six-week check, childhood immunisations on the Welsh schedule, same-day appointments for any unwell child, and support for new parents including postnatal checks and mental health.

Baby clinic Tuesday and Thursday 9:30 to 11:30, drop in.

05

Long-term conditions

If you live with diabetes, asthma, COPD, heart disease, high blood pressure, kidney disease or a mental health condition, you have a named nurse or GP, an annual review in your birthday month, and a care plan you helped write. Social prescribing and a physiotherapist in the building.

Annual review booked by the practice in your birthday month; blood tests first, then thirty minutes with the nurse.

06

Minor surgery, joint injections and travel

Two of our GPs are accredited for minor surgery: removal of cysts, lipomas and skin lesions, joint and soft-tissue steroid injections, and cryotherapy for warts and skin tags, done here on Friday mornings rather than at the hospital. The travel clinic runs with the nurses.

Free on the NHS after a GP has assessed it.

Referrals

What goes to the hospital, and how fast.

Part of every GP appointment is deciding whether this is something we treat or something that needs the hospital. Anything that might be a cancer is referred on the urgent suspected cancer pathway and you are seen within two weeks; we will tell you plainly that this is what we are doing. Routine referrals to a specialist go the same week through the Welsh referral system and you can track them in the NHS Wales App. For the things in between, we can ask a consultant for advice on your record without you needing an appointment, which often avoids the wait altogether.

  • Suspected cancer: referred the same day, seen within two weeks
  • Routine referrals sent within the week; track them in the app
  • Advice and guidance from consultants without a hospital visit where it fits

Need help today? Ring from 8am.

Sixty same-day slots every weekday, a clinician ringing you back the same morning. For anything that can wait, request a routine appointment online and reception replies within a working day. When we are closed, ring 111.
