Turn up and play
Social tennis
Sunday morning and Wednesday evening, partners found for you, new faces introduced. Free for members, and free for a first-time guest.

Sunday 10am and Wednesday 6:30pm are the two times you can turn up on your own and be on a court within ten minutes. A committee member runs the board and rotates everyone every twenty minutes or so.
The board is a real blackboard on the veranda. You chalk your name, the organiser sorts the fours, and you play with a different partner every set. Nobody is ranked and nobody keeps the score for long.
There is a biscuit tin on Sundays and the bar is open on Wednesdays after 8. Many members met their regular doubles partner this way, and at least one couple met here. People who claim not to be sociable tend to stay for the second cup.
If it rains we go to the hard courts. If it really rains we go to the pavilion, and someone will start a quiz.

Questions about social tennis
Do I have to book?
No. Just turn up five minutes before the start. If you are coming for the first time, a quick call lets us look out for you, but it is not needed.
What if I am much worse than everyone else?
Then you will be playing with people who remember being much worse than everyone else. We rotate often enough that it does not matter.
Come and hit a ball before you pay for anything.
A free guest session on any Sunday morning or Wednesday club night. Borrow a racket from the pavilion, meet whoever is on the next court, and decide over a cup of tea.
