Membership

All six courts, every hour we are open, booked online up to four weeks ahead. Adults £186 a year, families £360, juniors £64.

Membership runs from 1 April to 31 March. Join part-way through and you pay only for the months that are left, with the month you join counted as a whole one.

Being a member means your name on the booking sheet, a key fob for the side gate on Fairwater Road and a vote at the AGM in March. There is no waiting list and no interview. There is also no dress code, beyond shoes that will not ruin the clay.

We keep the club small on purpose, so a summer evening means a short wait at worst. The committee is elected, the accounts are read out at the AGM, and the surplus goes back into the surfaces. Court 2 was relaid from it in the spring.

If you can only play in the day, off-peak gives you weekdays from 9am to 4pm for about two-thirds of the price. If you are not sure at all, come as a guest first.

Questions about membership

Can I pay monthly?

Adult and family memberships can be split into ten standing orders from April, or into the months left if you join later. There is no charge for splitting it.

What happens at the end of March?

You get a renewal email in February. If you do nothing your membership lapses and you can rejoin without another joining fee within twelve months.

Do I need to be any good?

No. Plenty of our members took up the game after forty. Sunday mornings are organised so nobody is left sitting out.

Come and hit a ball before you pay for anything.

A free guest session on any Sunday morning or Wednesday club night. Borrow a racket from the pavilion, meet whoever is on the next court, and decide over a cup of tea.
