Concrete posts and gravel boards
Swap rotten timber posts for slotted concrete ones and keep the panels, or start again on a base that lasts.

Post replacement from £68 a post, ten-year guarantee
Fences fail at the ground. A timber post rots where air and wet soil meet, about a hand's width down, and the panels are often fine. Change the posts to concrete and the fence will see out the next panels too.
We break out the old post and its concrete, which is the slow part, set a slotted concrete post in a fresh hole at the same centre, and slide the existing panels back in if they are sound. A concrete gravel board under each panel lifts the timber clear of the soil and holds back the flower bed on the neighbour's side.
For a run of ten panels, that is usually a day for two of us. Where panels are past saving we price new ones at the same time, and we will tell you honestly which are worth keeping.
Concrete posts and gravel boards we fit carry a ten-year guarantee against cracking and leaning. The only thing they will not survive is a digger.

Questions about concrete posts
Are concrete posts ugly?
They are grey. Most people stop noticing within a week, and a dark stain on the panels makes them disappear further. Timber-effect posts are £6 more each.
Can you reuse my panels?
If they are standard six-foot panels and not rotten at the bottom, yes. We check every one before we quote.
How far apart are the posts?
Exactly 1.83 metres between centres, to fit a six-foot panel. That is why the survey matters: a fence that ends in a part bay needs a cut panel.
