Fence estimator

Price your fence before the survey.

Give the length, choose a style and a height and add any side gates. You get a range for materials and labour, the days on site and the cutting list. The survey sets the fixed price.

Your fence

Measure along the line in metres; a long garden is often 20 to 30. Leave gates out of the length.

Example: 24 m of closeboard, 6 ft, one gate.

That works out at £2,390 to £2,940 supplied and fitted, about two and a half days on site for two fitters. Fill in your own figures to see the cutting list.

Every figure here is worked out on the page from our metre rates, with ten per cent either side for ground, access and slopes. Nothing is stored.

Questions about the estimator

How accurate is the estimate?

For a level, open garden with a clear line, the survey price usually lands inside the range. Slopes that need stepping, roots, buried concrete and no side access push it towards the top or beyond; that is what the survey is for.

Why is picket dearer at six feet?

A six-foot picket fence is really a picket-topped screen: longer pales, a third rail and heavier posts. Most picket fences are three or four feet.

Is VAT included?

Yes. Every price on this site includes VAT.

Is anything stored when I use it?

No. Your figures are in the page address and nowhere else, and the page is not indexed by search engines once you have used it.
