Solid-core front and back doors in eighteen colours, with a three-star cylinder
Composite doors
Composite front and back doors with a solid timber core and a GRP skin that looks like painted wood and never needs painting, in eighteen colours with glass, knockers and letterplates to choose. A three-star anti-snap lock as standard. From £1,250 fitted.

A front door is the one thing on the house that everyone touches, and the one burglars try first. A composite door is a solid timber core, about 48 mm thick, with a glass-reinforced plastic skin moulded with a wood grain and coloured right through, in a uPVC frame. It is much heavier than a uPVC door, much warmer than a timber one, and never needs painting.
There are eighteen colours, the same outside and white or matching inside, and forty or so designs from plain to Victorian four-panel, with glass, knockers, letterplates and numerals in chrome, brass, black or satin. The door comes with a multi-point lock that bolts into the frame at five points, and a three-star anti-snap cylinder, which is what insurers and the police mean by Secured by Design.
Doors are made to order by the door manufacturer and take about five weeks, six from the survey. On the day the old door and frame come out, the new one is fitted, sealed and the threshold made level, and it takes half a day. We bring the paint for the reveal if the plaster needs touching up.

Questions about composite doors
Composite or uPVC door?
Composite for a front door: heavier, warmer, more secure and better-looking. uPVC still makes sense for a utility or a garage side door on a budget.
Can you fit a cat flap?
Yes, in the glass or a solid panel, when the door is made: it cannot be cut afterwards without voiding the guarantee.
