A price band before the surveyThe quote builder turns the number of windows, the style, the colour and the doors into the band we actually quote in, with the lead time. The survey is free and the written quote after it is fixed.
Made in CwmbranOur uPVC frames are cut, welded and glazed in the workshop behind the showroom on the Avondale estate, so a made-to-measure window is about four weeks from the survey, not ten, and a problem is a walk across the yard.
FENSA-registeredEvery replacement window and door we fit is registered with FENSA, so you get the Building Regulations certificate by post within thirty days and never need the council to inspect it.
Ten years, insurance-backedFrames, sealed units, hardware and our fitting are guaranteed for ten years, and the guarantee is insured, so it holds even if we do not. Your deposit sits in an insured deposit scheme too.

Windows and doors

Six things we make, fit and fix.

All six

uPVC windows

Casement, tilt-and-turn, sash and bay windows made to measure in our workshop on the Avondale estate, A-rated with warm-edge spacers and argon, in white or any of twelve foiled colours. From £420 a window fitted, about four weeks from the survey.

From £420 a casement window fitted in white, £520 tilt-and-turn, £950 sash.

Aluminium windows

Slim, strong, thermally broken aluminium windows for extensions, barn conversions and modern houses, powder-coated in any RAL colour with a 25-year finish guarantee. More glass, less frame, and about half as much again as uPVC.

From about £650 a window fitted.

Composite doors

Composite front and back doors with a solid timber core and a GRP skin that looks like painted wood and never needs painting, in eighteen colours with glass, knockers and letterplates to choose. A three-star anti-snap lock as standard. From £1,250 fitted.

From £1,250 a door fitted, £1,650 with a side panel or decorative glass.

Bi-folds and patio doors

Aluminium bi-fold doors that fold right back to open a room to the garden, slim sliding patio doors, and French doors in uPVC or aluminium. Level thresholds, toughened glass and proper drainage, measured and fitted by our own teams.

Three-panel aluminium bi-folds from £3,600 fitted.

Conservatory roofs

A polycarbonate conservatory roof is too hot in July and too cold in January. We replace it with a lightweight solid tiled roof with a plastered ceiling and spotlights, or with modern solar-control glass, on the frames you already have. Two to four days.

A solid tiled roof on a typical 3.5 by 3 metre conservatory from £6,800 fitted.

Repairs

Misted sealed units, locks that will not turn, hinges that have dropped, handles that have snapped: we repair windows and doors whoever fitted them, usually in one visit with the part in the van. A misted unit from £95.

A misted sealed unit replaced from £95.

Energy

What new windows save, with the sums shown.

From single glazing, ten new windows save something like £220 of gas a year; from double glazing fitted before 2002, about £100. We would rather show you the arithmetic than a sales figure, so the energy estimate writes down every assumption: the window area, the U-values, the South Wales heating season, the boiler and the gas price.

How we work

Four things true of every job.

One survey, one fixed price

Kerry measures every opening with a laser, checks the brickwork, the lintels and the cills, and writes a fixed quote at the kitchen table. It is the figure on the invoice unless you change the order.

A day for most houses

A three-bed semi with eight windows and a front door is one day for a team of three: the old frames out one at a time, so you are never open to the weather for more than an hour per window.

Dust sheets and the old frames gone

Dust sheets on every floor and over the furniture, the old frames and glass taken away for recycling, and the plaster round each window made good before we leave. Decorating is yours.

Building Regulations done properly

Replacement windows must meet the thermal standard, have trickle vents where the room needs them, and fire-escape openings upstairs. We fit to all three and register it with FENSA.

The survey

Kerry measures every opening, then writes the price at your kitchen table.

Most bad windows were measured badly: a frame too tight in an opening that is not square, a lintel nobody looked at, a cill that sloped the wrong way. Kerry measures every opening with a laser at three heights, checks the brickwork, the lintels and the cills, notes which rooms need trickle vents and which upstairs windows must open wide enough to escape from, and shows you the colours and the glass in your own light. The quote is written there and then and it is fixed.

Whole house

The quote builder said £4,350 to £5,800 for eight white casements and a front door. Kerry's quote after the survey was £5,140, and that is what we paid. Three fitters, one day, and not a speck of dust in the living room.

Windows and door

Anthracite windows and a composite door in heritage green. They made the windows across the yard from the showroom and I went to see mine on the jig. The FENSA certificate came in the post three weeks later.

Sash windows on a Victorian terrace that were rotting. From the street you cannot tell they are not timber, and the front room is no longer the coldest in the house.

Questions people ask before the survey

What do new windows cost?

Fitted, with VAT: a white uPVC casement from £420, tilt-and-turn from £520, a sash from £950, a bay from £2,400; colours add 15 to 18 per cent, and eight or more windows take 7 per cent off. A composite door from £1,250. The quote builder gives the band for your house.

How long from survey to fitting?

About four weeks for white uPVC, five for anthracite and six for heritage green, oak or a composite door, counting the week after the survey, because we make the windows ourselves. Most houses are fitted in a day.

What is FENSA?

The government-approved scheme that lets a registered installer self-certify that replacement windows and doors meet Building Regulations. You get the certificate by post, and you need it when you sell the house.

Will new windows really save money?

From single glazing, noticeably; from old double glazing, a little. The energy estimate shows the sums with every assumption written down, so you can judge it for yourself.

What deposit do you take?

20 per cent on order, held in an insured deposit scheme so it is safe even if we were not. The balance is due when the job is finished and you are happy.

What is the guarantee?

Ten years on frames, sealed units, hardware and our fitting, insurance-backed. Repairs on other companies' windows carry twelve months.
