Water damage
Bring it in quickly and switched off. A £45 clean and diagnosis tells us whether it is worth repairing, and what the chances are.
Turn it off now, and do not try to charge it. Forget the rice, which does nothing but fill your port with starch. What matters is how quickly the board is cleaned.
We open it up, clean the board in the ultrasonic tank, dry it and look for what the water has corroded. Usually within 48 hours we can tell you what still works and what it would cost. Some phones come back with only a clean. Some need a part. Some never wake up, and some are not worth the money.
If what matters is the photos on it, say so. Then we aim for getting the phone on just long enough to copy your data, instead of a full repair. We cannot promise anything with water, and we will not pretend otherwise.

Questions about water damage
Should I put it in rice?
No. It does not get water out from under the shields, and starch gets into the ports. Turn the phone off and bring it in.
It seems fine now. Do I need to do anything?
Corrosion carries on after the phone dries and can kill it weeks later. If it was in salt water, get it cleaned soon. For a splash of tap water, keep an eye on it and back it up today.
Will my insurance pay?
Often, and we can write a report for them for free if we do the work. Check your policy before paying for anything.
