Batteries

New batteries in phones while you wait, usually thirty minutes, and an honest reading of whether you need one.

If your phone dies at 30 per cent or needs a mains socket by lunchtime, it is probably the battery. A new one is a lot cheaper than a new phone, and we will check first for free.

We read the battery's health and charge cycles while you wait. If it is at 90 per cent and your real problem is an app chewing through it, we will show you that and charge you nothing. If it has gone below about 80 per cent, a new battery will make it feel like a different phone.

Swollen batteries are a different matter. If your screen is lifting or the back is bulging, please stop charging the phone and bring it in. We deal with these safely and dispose of the old battery properly.
