Care

Care at home, the way you like it.

From half an hour in the morning to someone living in, and anything in between. Each page says what the care involves, what it costs and what we cannot do.

Home visits and personal care

Visits from thirty minutes to a few hours, once a day or four times, to help with getting up and dressed, washing and bathing, meals and drinks, prompting medicines, and getting ready for bed. The same small team each time.

£29

Companionship

Time with someone who comes to see you, not to do a task: a walk along the river, the market on Tuesday, the library, a game of cards, help with letters and the phone, or just a pot of tea and a proper conversation.

£29

Live-in care

A carer who lives in the home for one or two weeks at a time, taking turns with a second carer, for people who need someone there day and night but want to stay in their own house rather than move to a care home.

From £1,295 a week for one person, £1,495 for a couple

Overnight care

A carer in the house overnight, either sleeping and on hand if needed, or awake all night for people who need regular help, so that a family carer can sleep or a person coming home from hospital is not alone.

£160 a sleeping night, 10pm to 7am

Dementia care

Care for people living with dementia, from a weekly visit in the early stages to live-in care later: the same carers, the same routine, life story work, and support for the family as things change.

The same hourly and night rates as any other care

Respite and hospital discharge

Short-term care: cover so that a family carer can have a holiday, a weekend or a regular afternoon off, and support for the first days and weeks after a stay at Nevill Hall or the Grange, so coming home goes well.

The same hourly and night rates; no minimum length for respite

The first visit

It starts with a cup of tea at home.

Bethan or Tomos visits the person at home, with family there if they would like, to talk about what is difficult and what they want to keep doing for themselves. We look at the stairs, the bathroom and the kitchen, talk about times, and write the care plan together. There is no charge and no obligation, and nothing starts until everyone is happy.

Talk to Bethan or Tomos about care.

Ring, send the enquiry form or drop into Frogmore Street. We will talk through what is needed, explain the costs and the council's part honestly, and arrange a free first visit at home, usually within a week.
