24 hours: £180 for the first hour by day, £260 by night, then £95 an hour, two of us
Emergency storm work
A tree across the drive, a limb on the roof, a leaning ash over the lane after a night of wind: one of us answers the storm line at any hour, tells you the price before we leave, and is with you within ninety minutes across the valley. We make it safe, clear what has to be cleared and come back in daylight for the rest if that is cheaper for you.

The storm line is the yard mobile, diverted to whichever of us is on call, and it is answered by a person who has been up a tree, not by a call centre. We ask what has come down, what it is on and whether anyone is hurt or any wires are involved; the price for the first hour is on the website and we repeat it on the phone. Across Monmouth, Ross, Chepstow and Usk we are usually with you inside ninety minutes, and we tell you honestly when a bad night has us queued.
A storm call is about making things safe, not finishing the job. We get the tree off the car, the roof or the road, cut the hung-up limbs down before they fall on someone, prop or fell the leaner, and clear a way through. If the rest can wait for daylight and a full crew with the chipper it is cheaper for you to let it, and we say so. If a tree is on a live power line we do not touch it and neither should you: ring 105, then us.
Insurers accept our invoices and we write the report they want: what fell, why, what we did, with photographs timed and dated. A tree that has failed in a storm is exempt from TPO rules, but the council wants a notice within five days of the work and a replacement planted; we send the notice. The storm line also covers a tree you are worried about before the wind arrives: a crack, a lean that has got worse, a root plate lifting. A look the same day is £60 and comes off the job.

The first hour, two of us with the saws and the truck, £180 between 8am and 8pm Monday to Saturday, £260 at night, on Sundays and on bank holidays; then £95 an hour. The estimator turns your job into a band in ten seconds; the areas page says whether your postcode carries a travel charge.
Questions about storm line
How quickly can you get here?
Within ninety minutes across the core postcodes, usually less from the yard. On a night when half the county has lost a tree we triage: roads and roofs first, gardens next, and we give you an honest time when you ring.
What if the tree is on my neighbour's house?
It is the owner of the land the tree stood on who usually pays, and their insurer who argues about it later; neither should wait. We make it safe for whoever rings and invoice whoever we are told to.
A band from the estimator. A fixed quote after we have looked.
The estimator turns the job, the size of the tree and the access into a price band before you ring. The quote form takes two minutes; Owen or Ffion replies within two working days with a visit that week, and the quote after it is the figure on the invoice. A tree down right now: the storm line, any hour.
