Chews by the bin, and rope that lasts

Treats and toys

Natural chews from wooden bins, sold by weight. Rope toys, balls and tug toys we have tested on Rhian’s collie, who has destroyed a good many of the alternatives.

Wooden bins of natural dog chews, dried treats and coloured rope toys in a pet shop, close up

A wall of plastic is what you find in most pet aisles. We have fewer toys, and better ones.

Every dog toy we sell has spent a week with Moss, Rhian’s collie. If it comes back in pieces it does not go on the shelf, which has ruled out most of the squeaky ones. What is left is rope, solid rubber, and canvas with a double seam.

The chews sit in wooden bins by the counter: dried sprats, pig’s ears, sweet potato slices, tripe sticks, and venison antler for the serious chewer. You pick your own and pay by the piece. Smaller dogs get a warning about the big ones, and a tip about watching them while they chew.

For cats there is catnip grown in Treorchy, feather wands, and cardboard, because it is the only thing they want anyway.

What you get

  • Natural chews from the bin, by the piece
  • Toys tested on a collie for a week
  • Catnip, grown ten minutes up the valley
  • Birthday bags for dogs, made up for £6
  • Toy guarantee: if it breaks in a week, we swap it
  • Good advice on what is safe for small mouths

What it costs

Chews from 50p each. A mixed bag of ten is £4. The price list has the rest, and the food cost calculator works out a bag by the week.

Questions about treats and toys

Are rawhide chews safe?

We do not stock them. Some dogs swallow large pieces, and there are better things to chew. Watch your dog with any chew, whatever you buy.

What about Christmas?

We make up stockings from the first of December at £10. Put your name down, because we only make fifty.

Bring the dog in. We will weigh it for nothing.

Or put in a weight and a food, and see which bag, how long it lasts and what it costs a week.
