Rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and their hay
Small animals
Hay by the bale or the bag, bedding, hutches to order, and plain advice before you buy. We keep a few rabbits and guinea pigs from local breeders, for homes that are ready.

Rabbits and guinea pigs are often sold as a child’s first pet. They are nothing of the kind, and we would rather tell you that before than after.
A rabbit can live ten years and needs another rabbit, a big run and a vaccination every year. Guinea pigs need company too, and they talk constantly. We will tell you all of this before you buy, and we will ask to hear about the hutch, because most of the ones sold in Britain are too small.
We keep a few animals at a time from two local breeders, never more than we can look after properly. If we think the home is not ready, we say so, and we hold the animal until it is.
The everyday part is hay, and most of what you buy from us will be hay: good meadow hay from a farm above Llantrisant, sold by the bag or the bale. Plus bedding, nuggets, and gnawing wood from the same place.
What you get
- Meadow hay by the bag or the bale
- Paper and wood bedding
- Hutches and runs of a sensible size, to order
- Nuggets, gnaw sticks and vitamin C for guinea pigs
- Nail clipping for rabbits and guinea pigs, £5
- Holiday hay: we hold your order until you are back
What it costs
Meadow hay from £4 a bag. A bale is £14, and we will carry it. The price list has the rest, and the food cost calculator works out a bag by the week.
Questions about small animals
Can I buy a single rabbit?
We would rather you did not. They do badly alone. If you already have one on its own, we can help you find it a neutered friend through a local rescue.
Do you sell hamsters?
To order, from a small breeder, and only with a cage we have looked at. Syrians live alone, and the wheel needs to be big.
Bring the dog in. We will weigh it for nothing.
Or put in a weight and a food, and see which bag, how long it lasts and what it costs a week.
