A safe platform round the stack, without scaffolding the whole house

Chimney scaffolds

Scaffolds built on the roof around a chimney stack, from roof saddles or from the ground, for repointing, flashing, new pots and removing stacks.

A chimney is the one part of a house you cannot safely reach with a ladder. A chimney scaffold gives a roofer a boarded platform all round the stack, with guardrails, for a fraction of a full scaffold.

Where the roof is sound and the stack sits near the ridge, we build from roof saddles spread across the slates, with a boarded platform and guardrails round the stack and access up the roof from an eaves-level lift at the front or back. Where the stack is on a gable or the roof is fragile, we build from the ground. Either way the roofer has somewhere safe to stand and stack materials.

Chimney work is common across Neath's terraces: repointing, new flashing, new pots and cowls, and taking redundant stacks down to below the roofline. We put up most chimney scaffolds in a day and protect the slates with boards under every saddle.

What it includes

  • Guardrails and toe boards
  • Access from an eaves lift

A chimney scaffold on a two-storey terrace from £690, including four weeks' hire. The hire estimator works out a guide for your house and hire length; the quote after a visit is the price.

Questions about chimney scaffolds

Will it damage my roof?

Saddles spread the load across the slates, with boards under them. We look at the roof first and build from the ground if it is too fragile.

Can my roofer use it for the gutters too?

If they need the eaves lift for access anyway, yes, it doubles as gutter access along that elevation.

How long does it take to put up?

Usually a day, sometimes less for a stack near the front of the roof.
