Saturday at two, ninety minutes, £25 with a flight and a can to take home; private tours any day for up to ten

Tours and tastings

The Saturday tour at two: ninety minutes around the brewhouse with whoever brewed that week, malt in your hand, a hop to crush, a taste from a tank, then a flight of four on the chapel floor and a can to take home. £25, twelve people at most, booked on the booking page. Private tours for up to ten on any day, £180, with a tasting that matches your taste.

A small group on a brewery tour standing between stainless steel tanks while a brewer in an apron explains, holding a handful of malted barley

The tour is the brewer who made the beer that week walking you round the tanks and telling you what went wrong. Ninety minutes, malt and hops in your hands, a sample from a fermenter that is not finished yet so you can taste what time does, and then a flight on the chapel floor with the glass wall between you and what you just saw.

Saturday at two, twelve people at most, booked on the booking page or at the bar. The first half hour is the kit: the mash tun, the kettle, the four fermenters, the brite tanks and the canning line, and the honest story of the batch that went to the drain in 2019. Then the ingredients: Welsh malt from a maltings in Gwent, hops from Kent, Slovenia and the Yakima Valley, water from a spring on the Graig that we had tested and could not believe, and the yeast we have kept going since the first brew.

The tasting is a flight of four on the chapel floor with the brewer sitting with you, and a can of the core range to take home. Private tours for up to ten run on any day including Mondays when the kit is running, for £180, with a tasting of six chosen to match what the group tells us they like. Tasting-only sessions in the gallery (six beers, cheese from the deli on Taff Street, forty-five minutes) are £15 a head for groups of eight or more.

Questions about tours

Can children come on the tour?

Yes, with an adult, for nothing, with a soft drink flight. The brewhouse floor is wet and the walkways are steel, so flat shoes.

Is it accessible?

The brewhouse is step-free from the yard and the walkways are wide; the tasting is on the chapel floor. The gallery is upstairs and not accessible, so tastings for groups with a wheelchair user are held on the floor.
