The grey chapel, with the green doors.

A hundred metres up Mill Street from the Old Bridge, next to the car park, with the picnic benches outside and the tanks visible through the window on the right. Six minutes from the station, and the last train to Cardiff is at 11:40, which is why Saturday closes at eleven.

Getting here, parking, access and hours

The chapel

The Old Chapel, Mill Street, Pontypridd CF37 2SN: the grey stone chapel with the dark green doors, a hundred metres up Mill Street from the Old Bridge, next to the car park. The taproom is through the main doors; the shop is the cold room on the left; the yard and the brewhouse door are round the side.

Getting here

Pontypridd station is a six-minute walk down Taff Street and over the bridge; trains from Cardiff every fifteen minutes until late. Buses to the bus station, four minutes. The Taff Trail passes the end of Mill Street; a bike rack in the yard.

Parking

The Mill Street car park is next door, free after 6pm and all day Sunday; two hours free before that. Three spaces in the yard for collections and the trade. A taxi rank by the station; the last train to Cardiff is 11:40.

Access

Step-free from the yard into the taproom, the shop and the brewhouse walkways; an accessible toilet on the ground floor; the gallery is up the original stone stairs and is not accessible, so tastings move downstairs for anyone who needs it. The sound limiter keeps bands to a level you can talk under.

Children and dogs

Children welcome until 8pm, with a soft-drink flight and the yard to run in; a changing table in the accessible toilet. Dogs welcome everywhere except the brewhouse, with bowls under the bar and a biscuit for the ones who sit.

Hours

Taproom Thursday 4pm to 10pm, Friday 4pm to 11pm, Saturday noon to 11pm, Sunday noon to 8pm. Shop the same, plus Wednesday 10am to 4pm. Closed Monday to Wednesday for brewing and deliveries; the trade phone is answered then. Closed Christmas Day; open Boxing Day from noon.

Standing on Mill Street looking at a chapel with no green doors? That is the other one. Ring 01443 496 0500 and we will wave from the yard.

Saturday at two: the tour, a flight, and a can to take home.

Ninety minutes round the tanks with whoever brewed that week, malt and hops in your hands, a taste from a fermenter, then four thirds on the chapel floor. £25, twelve at most. The same form takes a mixed box, the gallery, or a trade order.
