The quiz on Tuesdays, food vans on Fridays, a band a month, the gallery for thirty, the whole chapel for a hundred and twenty

Events and hire

The Tuesday quiz (£2 a head to the Pontypridd food bank, teams of six), a different food van every Friday, pizza on Saturdays, a band about once a month, a running club from the yard on Wednesdays, and a Christmas party with the pulpit as a DJ booth. The gallery seats thirty for £150 against the bar; the whole chapel takes a hundred and twenty for weddings and parties on a Monday to Wednesday.

A taproom quiz night: about thirty people at long wooden tables in a converted chapel, a quizmaster with a microphone, pints and answer sheets

A chapel is built for a crowd, and the taproom fills it four ways: the quiz that raised £6,000 for the food bank last year, the Friday vans, the Saturday band, and the private hires that pay for the roof. The taproom page has the next month; this page is how to book one.

The Tuesday quiz is at half past seven, six rounds, teams of up to six, £2 a head that goes entirely to the Pontypridd food bank, and a prize of a mixed box. It fills, so come by seven. Friday is a food van in the yard from five: a rota of six that changes with the season, from the Caribbean one to the Welsh-cake-and-bacon one, listed on the taproom page. Saturday is the pizza oven from one, and about once a month a band on the chapel floor at eight, no ticket. Wednesday at six a running club leaves from the yard for five kilometres along the Taff and comes back for a half.

The gallery upstairs seats thirty at long tables, has its own small bar, and is £150 for an evening against a bar minimum of £300: birthdays, leaving dos, a club dinner. The whole chapel, for a wedding, a party or a company evening, takes a hundred and twenty seated or two hundred standing on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday when the taproom is closed, from £900 with the bar run by us at taproom prices and the food from any of the Friday vans. We do not do ticketed events or sell the room for anything we would not drink at.

Questions about events

Can we bring our own band or DJ?

Yes, for a whole-chapel hire; the sound limiter is set for the neighbours on Mill Street and we tell your engineer the number. The pulpit has a power socket, since you ask.

Do you do weddings?

About eight a year, on a Monday to Wednesday. No packages: the room, our bar at taproom prices, a van of your choice, and the chapel does the rest. Come and see it on a Sunday afternoon.

Saturday at two: the tour, a flight, and a can to take home.

Ninety minutes round the tanks with whoever brewed that week, malt and hops in your hands, a taste from a fermenter, then four thirds on the chapel floor. £25, twelve at most. The same form takes a mixed box, the gallery, or a trade order.
