A fish supper for your party: twenty to a hundred and fifty, fried at your door from our van, or collected in boxes

Catering

A fish supper for a wedding evening, a birthday or a works do: our catering van with its own range parks outside and fries to order for twenty to a hundred and fifty, cod or haddock and chips in cones or boxes with the sides and the sauces, from £13 a head. Or collected from the shop in insulated boxes for smaller parties.

A small catering van with a frying range serving fish and chips in paper cones to guests at an evening wedding party in a garden with festoon lights

The van is the Esplanade range on wheels: a two-pan frier in a converted horsebox that Dai found in a field in Pembrokeshire in 2016, which has since fried at about two hundred weddings, a hundred birthdays and a regular Christmas party for the lifeboat crew.

For twenty to a hundred and fifty people within twenty miles of Penarth: the van arrives an hour before you want to eat, sets up in a car park, a drive or a field, and fries to order for as long as the queue lasts. Cod or haddock and chips in paper cones or boxes, a vegetarian option from a separate pan, mushy peas, curry sauce, tartare, lemon, and the salt and vinegar on the side. £13 a head from twenty; £12 from fifty; £11 from a hundred. Gluten-free from the separate pan on request.

For ten to forty, collected: fish and chips in insulated boxes at a time you choose, from £11 a head, with the sides and the sauces. Ring or use the order page with "catering" chosen, the date, the number and the place; a £100 deposit holds the date, refundable up to a month before. Summer Saturdays book up by Easter.

Questions about catering

How much space does the van need?

A space about the size of two cars on level ground, a few metres from where people queue. It runs on its own gas and needs no power.

Can you do a wedding evening?

Yes, it is most of what the van does. Book early for summer Saturdays.

Book a slot, skip the queue.

Pick a collection time from the slots still open, every fifteen minutes through each shift, say what you would like, and it is fried to the slot and waiting in a bag with your name on it at the end of the counter.
