Tablets, drops and injections

Medication

Menna was a veterinary nurse for nineteen years. She gives tablets, ear drops, eye drops and insulin, exactly as your vet wrote them, and keeps a written record you can take home.

If your cat needs daily medicine, you have probably thought you can never go away again. You can.

Menna or Gethin gives every dose. Tablets go in whatever works at home, and if nothing does, Menna has a method. Insulin is given at the times you give it, on a written schedule, with the same food at the same times. She writes each dose in a book, with the time and how it went, and the book comes home with you.

Bring enough medicine for the stay and a few days more, in its original packet with the label on, and your vet’s name and number. If your cat has a chronic condition we will ask for a note from your vet before the first stay, so that we all know what normal looks like.

We are not your vet and we do not change doses. If anything looks wrong we ring your vet straight away, and then you, in that order. Our own vet is a mile away in an emergency, and you agree the limit on the form before you leave.

Questions about medication

My cat is on insulin twice a day. Can you really do that?

Yes, and we usually have one or two here. Twelve hours apart, on the same food at the same times as at home. Please do a short stay first, so that we all get used to it.

What if my cat bites?

Tell us, and we will wear the gloves. Menna has been bitten by experts.

Come and see where your cat would sleep.

Any day from 2pm to 4pm, by arrangement. Or put in your dates and see which chalets are free.
