Cleaned in our own machine at the back of the shop, pressed by hand, most things in two days, a suit £16

Dry cleaning and laundry

Dry cleaning done in the shop, not sent away: suits, dresses, coats, knitwear, silk and curtains, pressed by hand and returned on hangers in covers. Shirts laundered and pressed overnight. Most things ready in two working days; a two-piece suit £16, a shirt £3.50.

A rail of freshly pressed suits, coats and dresses in clear covers on hangers in a bright shop, a steam press visible behind

A dry cleaner that cleans on the premises knows what happened to your garment. We have done it that way since we opened, and it is why we can say yes to silk, wool and beaded things that others send to a factory.

Our cleaning machine uses a modern hydrocarbon solvent that is gentler on fabric and buttons than the old perchloroethylene, and safer for the people working next to it. Every garment is checked at the counter for stains, loose buttons and anything in the pockets, and the stains are treated by hand before cleaning. If we think a stain will not come out, we tell you then, not when you collect it.

Everything is pressed by hand on a steam table: trousers with a crease where there was one, jackets on a form so the shoulders keep their shape, pleats set one at a time. Shirts are laundered, not dry cleaned, and pressed on the shirt press overnight; bring them before 10am and they are ready the next working day after 3pm.

Small repairs found during cleaning (a loose button, a dropped hem of a few centimetres) are done free. Anything bigger we ring about first. Collections and deliveries in Penarth on Tuesdays and Fridays are £5 each way, free over £40.

Questions about dry cleaning

How long does dry cleaning take?

Two working days for most things, Monday to Saturday; shirts the next working day if they are in before 10am. Wedding dresses take two weeks because they are cleaned and boxed by hand.

Can you clean leather and suede?

We send leather and suede to a specialist in Bristol, which takes about ten days. Everything else we do here.

Can you clean my wedding dress after the day?

Yes, from £95, cleaned by hand and boxed in acid-free tissue. The sooner after the wedding, the better the stains come out.

Bring it in, or book a fitting.

Most alterations and all dry cleaning need no appointment: come to the counter on Glebe Street and we pin it there and then, with the price and the ready-by date on your ticket. Bridal, made-to-measure and evening fittings are booked.
