From £7,800 supplied and fitted with half-height tiling; about ten working days

Full bathrooms

The family bathroom, stripped back to the walls and the floor, re-planned if it helps, and fitted by one team: bath or shower or both, a wall-hung basin and toilet, a heated rail, tanking, tiling, lights and a fan.

A finished family bathroom with a white bath, a walk-in shower behind a glass screen, eucalyptus green tiles to half height and a brass heated towel rail

Most of our work is the family bathroom in a Penarth terrace or a Vale semi: about two and a half by two metres, a bath under the window, a toilet that rocks and tiles from 1998. We strip it back, fix whatever is wrong behind the tiles (and something usually is), and fit it as one job with one programme.

The package price covers a bath with a thermostatic shower and a glass screen, or a walk-in shower, a wall-hung basin on a vanity unit, a close-coupled or wall-hung toilet, a heated towel rail, an extractor fan, LED ceiling lights, tanking on the wet walls, tiling to half height with the walls above painted, and a new floor. It covers the strip-out and taking it all away, first and second fix plumbing, the electrics with a certificate, and making good. It does not cover moving the soil pipe, which is quoted if the new layout needs it.

A typical family bathroom is ten working days: one to strip out, two of first fix, two of boarding and tanking, three of tiling, and two of second fix, silicone and the clean. If it is your only bathroom we plan the days so the toilet is reconnected each evening, and you have a shower back by the end of the first week.

What is included

  • Strip-out and everything taken away
  • Thermostatic shower, bath or walk-in, glass screen
  • Wall-hung basin on a vanity, toilet, heated rail
  • Tanking on every wet wall before tiling

What it costs

From £7,800 including VAT, supply and fit, with half-height tiling; full-height tiling usually adds £1,200. About ten working days. Including VAT, supply, fit, the strip-out and the electrical certificate. The estimator adds full tiling and extras and shows the current lead time.

Questions about full bathrooms

Can we keep using the bathroom while you work?

Not the shower for most of the job, but the toilet is reconnected each evening if it is your only one. Most people use a gym, a neighbour or a relative for a week.

Can you move things round?

Yes: the basin and shower can usually move freely. The toilet is tied to the soil pipe, and moving it is possible but quoted separately after we have seen where the pipe runs.

Do I choose the products?

In the showroom with Siân, from the ranges we fit and trust, or you can supply your own; we fit them and the guarantee covers our workmanship, not their products.

Start with an hour in the room. Then the showroom.

The design visit is £95 and comes off the bathroom when you order: Siân measures the room, finds the pipes and the soil stack, and sends a drawn layout with three priced options within a week. Or price a package on the estimator first.
