A quiet frame that does not creak

Beds

Solid oak bed frames in double, king and super king, with slatted bases and bolted joints that can be tightened, and do not creak.

A solid oak bed frame with a tall plain headboard and white linen bedding in a quiet bedroom, beside an oak cabinet

Creaks come from loose joints and movement between slats and rails. So we use long bed bolts that can be tightened, and a slat system with a felt strip.

A bed is one of the few pieces that really is taken apart and moved house. So each rail is fixed to the post with a long steel bolt in a traditional bed-bolt hole, under a small oak cover. The slats rest on a felt-lined ledge and are tied together with webbing, so nothing rubs.

The headboard can be plain or panelled, 90 or 120 centimetres high. Under the bed there is 28 centimetres of clearance, which fits storage boxes; or ask for two oak drawers on runners, £340.

We do not sell mattresses. Our frames take any standard UK size, and we are happy to tell you who we would buy from locally.

Questions about beds

Will it creak?

If it ever does, tighten the bolts with the spanner. If that does not cure it, ring us and we will come out. It is covered by the guarantee.

Do you do bedside cabinets?

Yes, from £340 to match, with a dovetailed drawer.

Measure the room. We will tell you the truth about the table.

The room planner draws it to scale in a few seconds, or Mari will come out with a tape for £45, taken off the price of the piece.
