Intensive

Intensive courses, with the test booked first.

One instructor, one car, four hours a day, Monday to Friday, for one or two weeks, with the practical test booked at the end before the course begins. Four spaces a fortnight across the school, dates published a month ahead, and an honest word on the phone about whether it suits you before we take a deposit.

The calendar

Courses starting in the next three months.

You need a theory pass certificate to book, because the practical test is booked before the course starts. A £150 deposit holds the space; the balance is due the week before.

Does it suit you?

Who an intensive course works for, and who it does not.

It works when you have passed the theory, have a job, a move or a university term with a date on it, and can give the fortnight your full attention: no shifts, no exams in the same week. It works best for someone who has had some lessons or driven abroad and needs to reach test standard quickly. It does not work as a shortcut for someone who has never been in a car and would rather not be; forty hours in two weeks is tiring, and nerves do not compress. We say which you are on the phone, and about one call in five we suggest weekly lessons instead.

  • Theory passed, a date to work to, the fortnight clear
  • An assessment on the first morning; hours adjusted if needed
  • About a quarter need a second test; most pass it

Book the introductory two hours. £60, from your door.

The controls on a quiet road, moving off and stopping, and enough driving to see how you take to it, with the instructor who covers your area. At the end you get a written plan and an honest estimate of the hours. Book with the form or ring the office, Monday to Saturday 8 to 7.
