For repeat blockages, house purchases and extensions
CCTV drain surveys
A camera through the drain from chamber to sewer, recorded, with a written report of every defect, its distance and what we would do about it.

A drain that blocks twice has a reason, and you cannot see it from the top. A camera survey shows exactly what is wrong and where, so you pay for the right repair and no more.
We push a self-levelling colour camera through the drain from each chamber, recording as we go, and note every defect with its distance from the chamber: roots through a joint, a displaced or open joint, a crack, a dip where water sits, a fat build-up or a collapse. The report grades each one, shows a still of it, and says what we would do, from nothing to a patch liner to digging up. You get the footage as well.
Homebuyer surveys are worth doing on older houses, especially with trees nearby or an extension built over the drain. Builders need one before building over or near a drain, and Welsh Water may ask for one. The survey page explains what we look for and shows the defects we find most often in Swansea's older streets.

Questions about cCTV surveys
How long does a survey take?
An hour or two for a typical house, longer if a run needs clearing first so the camera can get through.
Do I need one when buying a house?
It is worth it on older properties, with trees near the drain, or where an extension sits over it. A repair found before you buy can be negotiated.
Can you find where the drain runs?
Yes. The camera head carries a sonde we trace from above, so we can mark the line and depth on the ground.
