About

Three decorators, one van, one job at a time.

Jo started Brushwork in 2012 after four years on heritage work in Bath, where a line a millimetre out gets you sent back up the ladder. That standard came home with her. Dan joined in 2015, Mia in 2019.

How we work

Two thirds of our hours are spent before the first topcoat.

Filling, sanding, caulking, sealing, priming. It is dull, it is where the finish comes from, and it is the part that gets skipped when a decorator is pricing to win rather than pricing to last. We price to last, we work one job at a time per team so the date we give holds, and we hoover and put the furniture back every evening because you live there.

  • Cut in by hand with a sash brush, never taped
  • Two full coats on everything, always
  • Trade paint from the brand you choose, any colour
  • £5m public liability; no subcontractors

The team

Who turns up.

Jo Bennett

Owner, decorator and colour consultant

Jo trained with a Cardiff decorating firm, spent four years on heritage work in Bath and started Brushwork in 2012. She does the colour consultations, the wallpaper and the fiddly stuff, and still prices every job from a visit.

Dan Pritchard

Decorator

Dan joined in 2015 and runs the exterior and commercial side: towers, render, rental turnarounds and the Saturday-and-Sunday office jobs. He is the one who refuses to paint damp render, whatever the schedule says.

Mia Carter

Decorator and sprayer

Mia came to us as an apprentice in 2019 and qualified in 2022. The spray room is hers, as are most of the kitchens and the feature walls, and she cuts in the straightest line in the company.

Promises

Four things you can hold us to.

Colour you can live with

A free hour with painted A4 samples before we start, so you choose in your light rather than under shop strip lights. Consultations for whole houses.

A fixed price per room

Prep, paint, two coats, woodwork and VAT in one figure per room. If we find blown plaster or damp we show you and price it before touching it.

Lines you can photograph

Cut in by hand with a sash brush, never taped. Ceilings and walls meet in a line you can run a finger along.

The date we give is the date

One job at a time per team. We do not start you while finishing someone else, so when we say Tuesday it is Tuesday.

Get a price per room.

Jo visits, looks at the walls and the woodwork, and sends a fixed price per room within two days. Add a colour consultation and the £95 comes off the job.
