Four weeks, eight sessions, £35, starting together on the first Monday

Beginners' four-week starter

For people who have not exercised in years and do not fancy walking up to a group of twenty: eight sessions over four weeks with other beginners, Monday and Wednesday at 7pm, learning every station slowly, then into the main sessions already knowing people. £35.

Three beginners in their forties and fifties doing walking lunges on a riverside park path while a trainer in hi-vis encourages them

The hardest part of bootcamp is the first time you walk across the grass towards a group who all seem to know what they are doing. The starter takes that away: a small group of beginners, starting the same night, with Osian or Bethan showing every station at half speed.

Week one is the warm-up, the squat, the lunge and the press-up at whatever level suits, and how to pace a circuit. Week two adds the kettlebell swing and the band row, taught properly. Week three is the conditioning stations and the finishers. Week four is a full bootcamp session, done together. Eight to twelve people, Monday and Wednesday at 7pm, in the park or in the school hall from November to February.

At the end you get a week of unlimited sessions free, and most people stay. If you are on medication, recovering from something or have been told by a doctor to take it easy, tell us when you join and check with your GP first; we will give you a version of every station that suits.

Questions about starter

I am very unfit. Really very.

That is who the starter is for. Week one is mostly learning how to do things, and you can stop and walk any time. Nobody is timed.

What if I miss a session?

Catch it in the next month's starter, free, or come to a main session and ask the trainer for the starter version.

Your first session is free. See you at the bandstand.

Tell us which sessions suit and we reply within the hour between sessions with a time. Come ten minutes early, in trainers and layers, and whoever is leading will show you round and give you the easiest version of everything.
