Meeting point

The bandstand, in the middle of the big lawn.

Every session starts and ends here, with the kit on the steps ten minutes before. The map is ours, drawn simply and not to scale; the six places below are where the session goes once it has started.

Getting to it

Over the footbridge, across the lawn.

From Taff Street or the bus station, cross the footbridge over the Taff into the park and walk straight ahead across the big lawn: the bandstand is in the middle. From the Bridge Street end, come in through the main gates and follow the path past the lido. Either way it is two to five minutes, and on a dark morning you will see the head torches.

  • Ten minutes early for your first session, so we can show you round
  • The kit and the register are on the bandstand steps
  • Winter evenings, Monday and Wednesday: the school hall in Trallwn

Around the park

Six places a session goes.

The bandstand

Where every session starts and finishes

The green-roofed bandstand in the middle of the big lawn. Kit, the register and the hi-vis pile are on its steps from ten minutes before.

The big lawn

The circuit

Flat, wide and well drained by park standards. Stations are laid out in a ring round the bandstand.

The river path

The warm-up lap and the sprints

The tarmac path along the Taff, lit at night as far as the footbridge. The 6:15s stay on the lit stretch.

The trees by the gates

Rain cover

The line of big trees near the Bridge Street gates, where the circuit moves in heavy rain.

The river lawn

The stretch

The lawn by the water where every session cools down, with the view of the old bridge.

The school hall

Winter evenings

November to February, Monday and Wednesday 7pm: a primary school hall in Trallwn, ten minutes' walk over the old bridge.

An evening fitness class in a primary school hall with adults doing step-ups on benches and kettlebell swings, wall bars on the walls

Winter evenings

November to February, the school hall.

Monday and Wednesday at 7pm move into a primary school hall we hire in Trallwn, ten minutes' walk from the bandstand over the old bridge, with parking in the school yard after 6pm. Warm, lit, dry, and it echoes. Friday 7pm and every morning stay in the park.
