For the sofa you cannot replace
Sofa & chair reupholstery.
Sofas, armchairs, dining chairs and footstools stripped back to the frame, rebuilt and recovered in a fabric you have chosen with us.

A good frame outlasts three or four covers. If the sofa is comfortable, the right size for the room and you still like the shape, recovering it properly costs less than a new one of the same quality and keeps it out of landfill.
Every piece is stripped back to the bare frame. We check every joint, re-glue and re-dowel anything that moves, and replace webbing, springs and foam where they have gone. Only then does the new cover go on. Covering over tired padding is how a reupholstered chair ends up looking tired again within a year, so we do not do it.
You choose the fabric with us, with samples in your hand and in your own light. We stock linens, wools, velvets, bouclés and performance fabrics from British and European mills, all of them tested to the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire Safety) Regulations. If you have found something elsewhere, we are happy to work with it.
Loose covers, feather-wrapped cushions, contrast piping, deep buttoning, skirts and castors are all available. Tell us how the piece is used and we will steer you towards what will wear well.

Questions we are asked
How long does reupholstery take?
An armchair is usually with us for two to three weeks; a sofa three to four. Antique and heavily sprung pieces take longer. We give you a date when we collect and keep to it.
Is it cheaper than buying new?
Against a similar-quality new piece, almost always. Against a flat-pack sofa, no. What you get is a hardwood frame that was built to be recovered, new fillings and a fabric of your choosing, and a piece that will do another twenty years.
Can I supply my own fabric?
Yes. Send us a sample first so we can check it is suitable for upholstery and fire-rated or able to be back-coated. We will tell you how many metres to order.
Do you reupholster leather?
We do, in hides from British tanneries, and we can also repair and recolour existing leather where it is sound.
Send us a photo of your piece.
Two or three photos from your phone and the rough size is all we need to give you an honest quote, usually within two working days.
