This Victorian armchair arrived with its springs on the floor. New webbing, springs re-lashed by hand, a feather-wrapped seat and a hand-stitched edge under Harbour linen. Drag the handle to see the difference.

Back to the bare frame. We photograph what we find and ring you if anything changes the quote. It rarely does.

Unwrapped, set in place, the old fabric offered back to you if you want it. Guaranteed for five years on our work.
Fabric library
Every fabric we stock has a rub count and a fire rating, and we will tell you which ones will survive your dog. A few from the shelves:
A heavy Belgian linen with a soft, slubby hand. Creases are part of the charm.
Our signature. A dense cotton-blend velvet that catches the light.
Classic weave for armchairs and footstools. Hides the dog.
Loopy, tactile, and made for mid-century shapes.
Full-grain aniline leather from a Northamptonshire tannery. Ages beautifully.
Stain-resistant, wipe-clean, looks like a plain weave. For families and cafés.

The workshop
Eleri opened Thread & Frame in 2009 after eight years restoring for antique dealers. Gareth came from automotive and marine trim, Rhys served his apprenticeship here. Between them they have done just about everything with a seat in it, and the piece you send us is worked on by one of them from the first tack to the last.
Reviews
My nan's armchair came back looking better than I ever remember it, and it still sits like her chair. Eleri talked me out of the fabric I wanted and into the right one. She was right.
Fourteen metres of banquette and we did not lose a single session. They came in Sunday mornings, cleared up after themselves and the velvet has survived two Six Nations.
Honest from the first phone call. They told us one of our chairs was not worth the cost of doing and quoted for the other two. Who does that?
