Entered Cardiff on a whim and then panicked. The twelve-week block got me round in 1:34 with a smile on my face. The pacing card was the bit I did not know I needed: I would have gone off far too fast.

Six of them.
I have no intention of racing. I come four mornings a week because it is the only exercise I have ever stuck at. Nobody cares how heavy your sled is, and Kerry remembers everyone's name.
My sister and I were splitting everything in half and losing minutes. Rhys tested us both and wrote out a split for every station. Eleven minutes faster at the next race. Worth it for that alone.
The Saturday sims are brilliant. Waves of six so you never queue, every split written down and emailed by lunchtime. Running out of the shutter into the rain at kilometre six is character building.
Two sessions on wall balls. I was squatting too shallow and breaking every eight reps. Now I do sets of twenty. Simple, filmed, explained, and no upsell at the end.
Great coaching and a great crowd, but the 6pm-ish classes fill up fast and I have been waitlisted a few times. Book on Sunday for the week. The showers are better than they look from outside.

About the four stars
Owain was right about the evenings.
The 5:30 and 6:30 classes were full by Monday most weeks, and fourteen is the limit because more than that and the coach cannot see everyone. Since September there is a 7:30pm class on Tuesdays and Thursdays when the waitlist passes four, and the app opens the next week's bookings at noon on Sunday, not midnight. The showers, he is also right, are better than they look from outside.

Your first class is free. Come and push a sled.
Book any class the night before and tell the coach at the door it is your first. You get the lighter option at every station, a coach nearby, and nobody watching the clock but you. Or come to a race sim and see what the whole thing feels like.
