The Taff Trail runs from the Bay to Brecon and starts two hundred metres from the door, which is why the hire fleet exists. Twenty-six bikes in every size, measured to you before you leave, with a helmet, a lock, lights and a pump in the bag, and a map with the cafés marked on it because that is what people ask for.
Hybrids are the everyday bike for the trail and the city: upright, a rack, mudguards, £25 a day. E-bikes make Castell Coch and the climb to Caerphilly a pleasure rather than a project, £45 a day with a range of about sixty miles. Road bikes, £40, for the people who left theirs at home and want the Vale lanes. Children's bikes from sixteen to twenty-six inch at £12, tag-alongs and child seats for nothing with an adult bike. The cargo bike, £55, takes two children and a week's shopping and is the one that gets booked first in the school holidays.
A week costs five days. The deposit is £100, pre-authorised on a card and never taken unless the bike does not come back. Collect from 9am, back by 5:30 (4pm Sunday); overnight is fine with a D-lock, which we provide. Can I hire for a few hours?
A half day (four hours) is 60% of the day rate on hybrids and children's bikes. E-bikes and the cargo bike are by the day.
Where should we ride?
The Taff Trail north to Castell Coch is an hour each way on a hybrid and flat the whole way. The Bay loop is forty minutes. We give you the map with the cafés on it.
