What we collect, why, how long we keep it and how to ask us about it.
What we collect
When you use the survey request form we collect your name, phone number, email address, the property postcode, the service and urgency you choose and anything you write in the message box. The form also records the time it was sent and your IP address, used only to block automated submissions.
When you become a customer we keep the drone photographs, survey reports, quotes, invoices and guarantee certificates for your property, because the guarantee and building control require it and because you or a future owner may need them.
Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and arrange the survey (our legitimate interest in answering you, and the steps needed before a contract).
- To carry out the work, invoice you and honour the guarantee (contract). Drone photographs of your roof are taken only with your agreement and are not used for marketing without asking.
- To keep guarantee records and notify building control where a re-roof requires it (legal obligation).
- To send a reminder for a gutter clean or roof check if you have asked for one (consent; stop at any time by email).
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become jobs are deleted after six months. Customer records, invoices, survey reports and guarantee certificates are kept for the life of the guarantee plus one year, or seven years, whichever is longer. Reminder lists are kept until you ask to be removed.
Who sees it
Our three staff, our accountant, the guarantee insurer when a guarantee is registered, and building control where a re-roof must be notified. Your insurer, only when you ask us to send them a storm report. The booking form is delivered by email to our office; we do not use third-party form services or marketing platforms. We do not sell or share your details for marketing.
Cookies
This site sets a single session cookie to limit repeat form submissions. It contains no personal data and expires when you close the browser. The embedded map on the contact and areas pages is served by Google and may set cookies under Google's own policy.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email office@ridgelineroofing.co.uk or write to the address above. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
