About

Slaters first, roofers second.

Gethin learnt the trade on Rhondda terraces where the roofs are slate and the rain is sideways. Ridgeline started in 2009 with one van and a roof ladder. Sixteen years and fourteen hundred roofs later the rules are the same: look properly, price it once, leave it watertight.

How we work

The way the old roofs were done, with better membranes.

Most of the roofs around here are a hundred years old and still keeping the rain out, because they were slated by people who nailed every course twice and dressed the lead properly. We do the same, with a breathable membrane underneath instead of nothing and a dry ridge instead of mortar that blows off. Nothing we fit is new for the sake of it; nothing old is kept for the sake of it either.

  • Natural slate wherever the house was built for it; we will talk you out of concrete tile on a Victorian terrace
  • Every job drone-surveyed, every quote one figure, every roof sheeted every night
  • Working-at-height cards, £5m public liability, insurance-backed guarantees
  • No subcontractors. One of the three of us is on every roof we quote

The team

Who turns up.

Three of us, two vans, one tower scaffold, a drone. We are not big and do not intend to be.

Gethin Price with arms folded in front of scaffolding on a slate roof

Gethin Price

Owner and lead roofer

Gethin learnt slating from his uncle in the Rhondda and started Ridgeline in 2009 with one van and a roof ladder. He still prices every job himself and still strips the first course on a re-roof. Natural slate is his thing; he will talk you out of concrete tile on a Victorian house.

Lowri Evans

Roofer and drone surveyor

Lowri joined in 2015, holds the drone pilot qualification and writes most of the survey reports. She runs the repair van, which means she is the one who finds the eleven slates where someone else quoted a re-roof.

Jake Morgan

Roofer

Jake started as our labourer in 2019 and qualified in 2023. Flat roofs, chimneys and leadwork are mostly his now, and he is the one on the storm line most weekends.

Promises

Four things you can hold us to.

Surveyed from above

A drone flight and a written report with photographs before any quote. You see what we see, and you keep the report whoever you choose.

The quote is the bill

Scaffold, skip, materials, labour and VAT in one figure. If we find rotten timber under the old roof we photograph it and price it before touching it.

Guaranteed in writing

Twenty years on re-roofs and flat roofs, five on repairs, insurance-backed so it holds even if we are not around.

Watertight every night

A roof is never left open. Whatever stage we reach, it is sheeted and weighted before we leave, and we check the forecast before we strip.

Get the roof looked at properly.

A free drone survey, a photo report you keep, and a fixed quote that includes the scaffold and the skip. Storm damage: ring the storm line, any hour.
