Hot flushes and sleep
Menopause
Some women find it helps them feel better, and some trials show fewer hot flushes, but it has not clearly beaten placebo needles. It sits alongside your GP's advice.

Women often come to us because HRT does not suit them, or they have decided against it, or they are waiting for an appointment. Please talk to your GP as well. There is effective treatment for menopause symptoms, and we would not want you to miss out.
In trials, women having acupuncture reported fewer or less troublesome hot flushes than those having no treatment at all. Compared with sham needles, the difference has been small or absent. So some of what people feel may be down to the time, the attention and the rest. We are comfortable with you knowing that.
We also talk about sleep, and about what else you are doing. Bleeding after your periods have stopped needs your GP, and soon. If you have had a breast cancer diagnosis, tell us, and we will avoid needling an arm with lymphoedema.

Questions about menopause
Can I have this with HRT?
Yes. There is no conflict. Please carry on with anything your doctor has prescribed.
How soon will I notice anything?
If you do, it is often within four sessions. If not by then, we will say so.
Book a first appointment.
Seventy-five minutes for £65. We ask what your doctor has said, tell you what the research says, and agree a stopping point before a single needle goes in.
