Three paddock walks a day, under the oak, with their family or alone
Walks, paddocks and play
Every dog goes out three times a day in the fenced paddocks: with the dogs from their own home, or on their own if they are nervous or elderly, never in a free-for-all with strangers. Ball, sniffing, a paddle in the trough, a sit under the oak. The kennel hands walk, they do not supervise from a chair.

The oak is four hundred years old and hollow, and the four paddocks around it are where most of a stay happens. Three times a day, forty minutes each, every dog goes out: a run, a sniff, a ball if they want one, and a person who is paying attention. The dogs that come back year after year come back for the paddocks.
Walks are in family groups: your dog goes out with the dogs it lives with, or alone, and never with dogs from another household. We know group play looks lovely on a website and we know what happens when it goes wrong. The four paddocks are post-and-rail with mesh, a trough for paddling, shade under the oak and the hedge, and a gravel yard for wet days. The first walk is at seven, the last at half past six, with the middle one after lunch.
Dogs that need more get more: a young Labrador gets an extra ball session, an old collie gets a slow potter on the lead and a longer lie in the sun. Lowri, who trained at the Dogs Trust, does one-to-one sessions on recall and lead manners if you want them, and will tell you honestly what she thinks of your dog's manners when you collect.

Questions about walks and play
Can my dog play with other dogs?
With the dogs it lives with, yes, all day. With dogs from other homes, no; we do not mix households in the paddocks, because the one time it goes wrong is the one time that matters.
What if it rains?
They go out anyway, in the gravel yard with the barn roof over half of it, and come back to a towel. Welsh dogs are used to it. In a real storm the walk is shorter and the run is open.
My dog pulls like a train. Will you manage?
Yes. Every kennel hand walks dogs for a living, and Lowri can do some lead work during the stay if you ask. We will tell you how it went.
