Open every day of the year; book the summer by May and Christmas by October

Christmas, Easter and the summer

The farm is open every day of the year, Christmas Day included, with the same walks and the same people. Peak weeks add £6 a night and fill early: the summer holidays by May, Christmas by October, Easter by February. Regulars get first refusal on the dates they had last year.

Christmas morning at the farm looks like every other morning: the first walk at seven, breakfast, the suites cleaned, and a kennel hand in a paper hat. We are open every day of the year because dogs need walking every day of the year, and because the people who book Christmas have usually tried everything else first.

Peak weeks are the school summer holidays, the fortnight over Christmas and New Year, and the Easter fortnight. They add £6 a night to the normal rate, and the Christmas fortnight has a three-night minimum because a one-night Christmas booking stops someone else's ten. The farm is full in those weeks by the dates above, every year, and the waiting list runs long; a two-night deposit holds the booking and comes off the balance at drop-off.

Regulars get first refusal on the dates they had the year before, by email in January, which is why about seventy of the hundred Christmas places go before the diary opens. Bank holiday weekends are not peak but do fill. Outside the peak weeks there is nearly always room, and a Tuesday-to-Tuesday stay in November is the quietest, cheapest week of the year.

Questions about peak weeks

Can I collect on Christmas Day?

Yes, between four and six, as on any other day. Drop-offs on Christmas Day are eight to ten. The van does not run on Christmas Day or New Year's Day.

What if I cancel?

Up to four weeks before, the deposit comes back in full. Inside four weeks it is kept unless we fill the suite, which in peak weeks we usually do, in which case it comes back. We will tell you either way.

Can I add a day if my flight is late?

Ring and we will keep the suite if nobody is waiting for it, which outside peak weeks is nearly always. In peak weeks we will do our best and tell you straight if we cannot.

Book a stay, or come and look.

Give us the dates, the dog and whether two are sharing, and Helen replies within a day with the suite, the price and the deposit. Viewings on Saturdays, eleven to one, no appointment. Bring the dog.
