The team

Angharad and Helen.

Angharad chooses the gowns and sits with most of the brides. Helen fits them, in the room at the back. Between them there is not much they have not seen.

The people

Angharad Bevan, a woman of 52 with a dark bob in a sage silk blouse, in the shop

Angharad Bevan

Owner, bridal consultant

Angharad taught textiles at a comprehensive in Barry for sixteen years and started Ever After in 2011, after a bad experience helping her own sister buy a dress in a shop that had targets to hit.

She sees most brides herself. She knows the seven makers personally, and she has never told anyone that a dress is the one.

Helen Rees

Head of alterations

Helen trained as a corsetière in Cardiff and spent years in theatre wardrobes before joining in 2013. She has rebuilt bodices at midnight for more than one company's Traviata.

She does all our alterations in the room at the back, and writes the quote herself. If a dress cannot be made into what you are hoping for, she will say so at the first fitting, not the last.

The way we work

Four things we will not do.

Hide a price

Every gown shows its price on the tag, so you never have to ask.

Push you

We have no sales targets and no same-day discounts. The price is the same next month.

Leave you out

Samples up to size 20 in every shape, up to 26 in three, and orders up to 28.

Promise the impossible

If it cannot arrive or be altered in time, we will tell you at the first conversation.

Two hours, a pot of tea and no sales talk.

Appointments are free and there is nothing to sign. Tuesday to Saturday, on Eastgate. Saturdays go first, so look at the weekdays if you can.
