An hour of ironing on the end of a clean, or a basket collected

Ironing and laundry

Ironing done in your house by your cleaner on the end of a regular clean at £17 an hour, or a basket collected on the Monday and returned on the Wednesday, hung and folded, from £22. Beds changed and washing put on as part of any regular clean.

Ironing is the job that waits in a basket on the landing until the shirts run out. An hour on the end of the clean gets through most of a family's week, done by the person who already knows where the shirts live.

In the house, your cleaner irons at your board with your iron, or ours if you prefer, in the last hour of the visit: shirts on hangers, everything else folded onto the bed or into the drawers you show us. We do not iron underwear, towels or sheets unless you ask, and we tell you if a shirt should not be ironed at all. Changing the beds and putting a wash on are part of a regular clean and cost nothing extra.

If you would rather it left the house, a basket is collected on the regular clean day and comes back two days later hung, folded and in the same basket. A standard basket is about twenty-five items. Dry cleaning we leave to the dry cleaners.

Questions about ironing

Can I have ironing without a clean?

Collected ironing, yes, on any day our van passes your street. Ironing in the house is only on the end of a regular clean, because the hour is already booked.

What counts as a basket?

About twenty-five items: a family of four's weekly shirts, school uniform and a few dresses. A heaped basket is two.
