Five pitches, one morning
Saturday football
Ten teams, five pitches and a tea hut. Check the Saturday page for his game, his pitch, who brings the oranges and whether it is on.

Saturday morning is the whole point. From half past nine, Trethomas Park fills up with ten teams and their parents. The pitch map on the home page shows where every age group plays at home, and the Saturday page shows what his team is doing this week.
Home and away alternate, roughly. Away games are never more than 40 minutes from Bedwas, and the coach posts the details on the team group on Wednesday night. The Saturday page does the same job for anyone who has lost the message. We know you have.
Pitch inspections happen at half past eight on match days. The lower pitches by the river go first in wet weather, and the status appears on the Saturday page by quarter to nine. If it is off, it is off, and nobody needs to drive down to check.
The oranges are real. Each team has a rota by shirt number, because a boy of nine will remember his shirt number before he remembers to tell you it is your turn.
