A free hour with Seren at the shop or by video, and a tasting box of six flavours for £18 that comes off the order

Tastings and consultations

Before a wedding cake, an hour: a free consultation with Seren at the shop on Cardiff Road or on a video call, with the estimate page open, the sketches on the table and the flavours in front of you. The tasting box is six flavours of your choice for £18, collected or posted, and the £18 comes off the cake if you order. Tuesday to Friday by appointment and Saturday afternoons.

Choosing a wedding cake from a website is like choosing a dress from a catalogue: possible, and better in person. The consultation is an hour with Seren with the estimate page open so the price is never a surprise, a sketchbook, and the tasting box so you know what the twelve flavours actually taste like.

Book an hour on the order page or by phone, Tuesday to Friday in the day or on a Saturday afternoon, at the shop (there is a table in the window and the tea is free) or on a video call if you are far away. Bring the venue, the numbers, the colours, a picture or two, and the florist's name if you have one. Seren sketches as you talk and works out the tiers and the servings with you on the estimate page; you leave with a sketch and a price.

The tasting box is six two-inch squares of the flavours you pick, each with its buttercream, in a box for £18: collect from the shop or have it posted for £5.95, sent on a Tuesday. If you order the cake, the £18 comes off it. Most couples order the box first, taste at home with whoever has opinions, then book the consultation; that order works best.

Questions about tastings

Do we have to have a consultation?

No. Plenty of couples order from the estimate page and a phone call. The consultation is for the ones who want to talk it through, and it is free.

Which six flavours should we try?

Whatever you are torn between. If you have no idea: lemon and elderflower, chocolate and salted caramel, Victoria, red velvet, raspberry and white chocolate, and the bara brith cake.

The price before the consultation, and the Saturday before you ring.

The estimate page works out a wedding cake from the tiers, the finish and the servings, with the lead time and the next free Saturday. Then one form orders it, a celebration cake, cupcakes or the tasting box; Seren replies within the working day.
