What we collect, why, how long we keep it and how to ask us about it.

What we collect

When you use the order form we collect your name, mobile number, email address and postcode, what you would like, roughly how many it is for, a date if you give one, and what you write. The form also records the time it was sent and your IP address, used only to block automated submissions. The estimate page keeps nothing: the tiers, the finish and the servings are in the address of the page and nowhere else.

For a wedding cake we keep the booking, the venue and the delivery details, the design notes and sketch, the deposit record and any allergy you tell us. For a celebration cake we keep the order until it is collected. For posted orders we keep the address for the courier. We do not store card details; deposits go through our payment provider.

Why we use it

  • To make, deliver or post the cake (our contract with you).
  • To keep the allergy note with the order so the cake is made safely (a legal obligation).
  • To keep accounting records (a legal obligation).
  • To ask for a review after a wedding cake, which you can decline by replying.

We do not send marketing unless you have ticked the box for the Christmas bara brith email, which you can leave by replying. We do not sell or share your details with anyone for marketing.

Who sees it

The people who work here. The venue, for a wedding cake delivery, sees the name on the booking and our certificates. The courier, for a posted order, sees the name and address. Our payment provider, our accountant, and our website host for the form. None of them may use your details for anything else.

How long we keep it

Celebration cake orders are deleted a month after collection. Wedding cake bookings are kept for a year after the wedding, with the deposit records for six because the accounts require it; the sketch we keep, without your details, for the portfolio only if you say yes. Enquiries that do not become orders are deleted after three months.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it, by emailing cakes@barabrithcakes.co.uk or asking at the counter. We answer within a month. If you are not satisfied you can complain to the Information Commissioner\'s Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

This website sets no cookies of its own. The order form uses a session only to stop the same message being sent twice in thirty seconds, and the map on the Find us page is loaded from Google, which may set its own. There is no analytics script.
