The trainers

Owain and Ffion, stage by stage.

Two rehab trainers in a quiet studio on Nolton Street. Between them they read every physio letter, run every test and write every update.

The people

Owain Jenkins, a calm rehab trainer in his early forties with greying temples in a teal polo shirt, a squat rack blurred behind

Owain Jenkins

Founder, rehab trainer

Owain spent twelve years working in sports rehabilitation with rugby clubs in the Ogmore and Llynfi valleys before opening Back on Track in 2018, after noticing how many people were discharged by an overstretched physio with a sheet of exercises and nobody to do them with. He runs the ACL and back pain programmes, writes the four-weekly letters to physios, and has a rule that nobody moves to the next stage until the test says so.

Ffion Davies

Rehab trainer, runners and shoulders

Ffion ran for Bridgend through school, tore her ACL at twenty-two and spent eighteen months getting back, the last six with a trainer who understood rehab. She joined Back on Track in 2020 and runs the runners' rehab, shoulder rehab and the Saturday return-to-run group. She is the one who will make you do the boring single-leg work properly.

The paperwork

What to ask any rehab trainer for.

Rehab training, not just PT

A Level 3 personal trainer is not trained for injury. Ask for a rehab, exercise-referral or sports rehabilitation qualification. Ours are listed above; on this demonstration site they are placeholders.

They talk to your physio

A good rehab trainer asks for your notes and reports back. We send a short update every four weeks with your consent, and sooner if anything changes.

They know when to stop

Ask what would make them send you back to a physio or GP. Ours are on every service page and in the stage checker, in plain words.

Insurance and first aid

Professional indemnity that covers rehab work, public liability and current first aid. Ours renew each spring; certificates on request.

After the physio, the long middle. We do that bit.

Book a first session: an hour, £55, with your physio's or GP's notes, simple tests, your stage and a written plan. If nobody has assessed the injury yet, we will tell you who can, and the referrals page lists practices we work with.
