Private hire
The café to yourselves for a birthday, a baby shower, a book club or a wake: afternoon tea, a buffet or cake and drinks, evenings and Mondays.
When the doors close at four, the café can be yours: up to 30 seated round one long table, or 40 standing.
Evening hire runs from 6pm to 9pm, Tuesday to Saturday, and Mondays are available all day for something bigger. The room charge is £150 an evening and covers the café, a member of staff, the festoon lights, crockery and tidying up; food is priced per head on top.
Most people choose afternoon tea: finger sandwiches, scones with jam and clotted cream, three cakes and Welsh cakes, with unlimited tea and coffee, at £18.50 a head for twelve or more. We also do a sandwich and salad buffet from £12.50 a head, or just a celebration cake and drinks.
We do not have an alcohol licence. You are welcome to bring your own wine or fizz; there is no corkage and we provide glasses.

What it costs

Allergies: please tell us about any allergy or intolerance before you order. Our kitchen handles all 14 major allergens, so we cannot promise any dish is free of traces. Ask for the allergen sheet; it lists every dish.
Questions about private hire
How far ahead should I book?
Saturdays go a month or two ahead, especially in spring. Weekday evenings are usually free within a fortnight.
Can we decorate?
Yes, balloons and bunting are fine; no confetti or glitter, please, because it finds its way into the cake display for weeks.
Do you do wakes?
Yes, often at short notice. Ring Megan and we will make it work around the day.
Come in. There is usually a table, and always cake.
Breakfast until 11:30, lunch until the kitchen closes, cakes and coffee all day, Tuesday to Sunday. Book for six or more, order a whole cake for collection, or hire the café after hours.
