Adult stroke rehabilitation
Help with finding words, understanding, reading and clear speech after a stroke, usually after NHS therapy has come to an end. In your home if that is easier.

NHS therapy after a stroke is good, but it does not always last as long as people would like. People continue to make progress with words and speech long after the first months, and we can pick up where it left off.
Matthew spent nine years with the stroke team at University Hospital Llandough. He starts by asking what you most want to get back: ordering a coffee, reading the paper, speaking on the phone to your daughter. We build practice around that, and we include your partner or family, because conversation takes two.
We do not manage swallowing difficulties privately without the involvement of your NHS team, because of the risk of choking and chest infection. If you have any new sudden symptoms, ring 999: face drooping, arm weakness, slurred speech. Do not ring us.
What is included
- A home visit or clinic appointment
- A plan based on what you want to do
- Practice materials, on paper or tablet
- Coaching for your family
What it costs
A first appointment is £110 for an hour at home, or £95 here. Sessions are £70 here, or £85 at home within seven miles. There are no block bookings. We review every six sessions. NHS therapy is free, and we will tell you how to ask for it. It can sit alongside what we do.
Questions about adult stroke rehab
Is it too late? My stroke was three years ago.
Not necessarily. People can make progress years later, though we cannot tell you how much. We will be honest after a few sessions.
Do you work alongside the NHS?
Yes, and we will let your NHS therapist know if you agree. We would never ask you to leave their care.
Start with a free phone call.
Fifteen minutes, with no obligation. We listen and tell you honestly whether you need us, the NHS, or nothing yet.
