Sports and remedial massage

Deep tissue and remedial massage with Helen, a sports massage therapist of twenty years, for tight hamstrings, stiff shoulders, marathon weeks and desk backs. Bookable on its own or between chiropractic visits.

Massage is not a treat here, although it is nice. It is soft tissue work with a purpose: a specific muscle, a specific reason, and a plan for what you do between sessions.

Helen qualified in 2004 and has worked with rugby clubs, a cycling team and twenty years of Taff Trail runners. A session starts with what hurts and what you are training for, then deep tissue work, trigger-point release, stretching and the rehab corner if it is useful. Thirty minutes covers one area, an hour covers the lot.

Massage works best alongside the chiropractic plan when a joint has been freed and the muscles around it are still guarding, and on its own for the maintenance weeks of a training block. Pregnancy massage is in side-lying from the second trimester. Helen will tell you honestly if a problem needs Elin or Owen to look at it first.

Questions about massage

Do I need to see a chiropractor first?

No. Massage is bookable on its own. If Helen finds something that needs assessing, a joint that is not moving or pain that does not fit the muscle, she will say so and we fit you in with Elin or Owen.
