Runners, rugby, cyclists, gym, the Taff Trail
Sports injuries
Hips, knees, shoulders and backs that stop you training. Assessed for the joint that hurts and the one above or below it that caused it, treated hands-on, and loaded back to sport with a plan rather than rest.

Rest fixes almost nothing that is not a fracture. Sports injuries get better by finding what is overloaded and why, calming it down, and loading it back up on a schedule.
Owen runs the sports side: runners from the Taff Trail with hip, knee and Achilles problems, rugby players with shoulders and backs, cyclists with necks and knees, and gym injuries from lifting with a back that was already stiff. The assessment looks at the chain, not the sore bit; a runner's knee is very often a hip that does not control it or an ankle that does not bend.
Treatment combines adjustment and mobilisation of the stiff joints, soft tissue work and dry needling to the overloaded muscle, taping where it helps, and a graded loading plan with a return-to-sport date. Helen's sports massage sits alongside it for the heavy-mileage weeks. We work with local running clubs and a physiotherapist in Treforest for the cases that need a longer rehab programme.

Questions about sports injuries
Should I stop running?
Usually reduce rather than stop: shorter, flatter, slower, and no two hard days together. Complete rest for a fortnight is only right for a few injuries and we will tell you if yours is one. A running injury treated while you keep running sensibly settles faster.
