What we do

Six ways to have a chef in your kitchen.

All six and the prices

01

Dinner parties

A chef in your kitchen for an evening: three, four or five courses from a Welsh, Italian or plant-based menu, served at your table, with the washing up done.

Three courses from £58 a head, four from £70, five from £82.

02

Celebration meals

For the meals that matter: a birthday at home, a golden wedding, or a family that will not all fit in a restaurant. A cake, if you like, and speeches when you want them.

As a dinner party, plus £90 for a second person from ten guests.

03

Weekly meal prep

Tomos comes to your kitchen for an afternoon and leaves five dinners for your household, labelled, in your fridge or freezer. A good thing to give after a new baby or an operation.

From £185 a week for two people, five dinners.

04

Cookery at home

Learn pasta, bread, knife skills, or a dinner party menu, in your own kitchen with your own oven, because that is where you will be cooking it. Then you eat it.

Half-day lesson for two, £150.

05

Holiday cottage dinners

On holiday in the Usk Valley, the Black Mountains or Pembrokeshire with friends? We will come to your cottage for the Saturday night, or stock the fridge before you get there.

As a dinner party, plus 45p a mile over 25 miles.

06

Small weddings

A small wedding at home, in a barn or in a garden: up to forty guests at one long table, served family style. Tables, linen, and extra hands can all be arranged.

From £68 a head for twenty to forty.

The evening

Three hours before, we ring the doorbell.

We bring the food, the knives, the pans and a burner in case your hob has opinions. You lay the table if you like, open the wine and take a bath. Half an hour before you sit down, the kitchen starts to smell like a good restaurant.

After the pudding, you go on talking. We wash up and let ourselves out, and you find the kitchen in the morning cleaner than you left it.

How we work

Four things we promise.

We cook in your kitchen

Bring a good knife and you do not need an oven with six burners. Beca has cooked five courses on a Baby Belling, in a cottage in the Black Mountains, without incident. She checks your oven first.

You sit down with your guests

That is the whole idea. You open the wine, we bring the plates, and when the last one has gone, you do not go near the sink.

Allergies come first

We ask about the 14 major allergens for everyone at the table, write the menu around them and read it back in writing. Your kitchen is not an allergen-free kitchen, and we will say so.

We tell you when

A three-course dinner means we arrive three hours before. Five courses means four and a half. Our tool works it out, so that you know when the doorbell will ring.

Cookery at home

Learn it on your own oven.

Pasta, bread, knife skills or a dinner you can do in advance, in about three hours, in your own kitchen. Then you eat what you made, and the recipes come written up for the oven you have got.

Dinner party

We actually sat down with our friends. Beca arrived at four, there was a smell of lamb by six, and by midnight there was no sign she had ever been in the kitchen, apart from a note about the oven door.

Celebration

My father's eightieth, with three diets and a toddler. Nobody felt catered for separately. It was simply dinner, and the soft version looked just as good on the plate as everyone else's.

Meal prep

Tomos came for six weeks after my hip operation, paid for by my children. My fridge has never been so organised, and I learned that I like fennel. He wrote the reheating times in big letters without being asked.

Questions before you book

How much does it cost?

From £58 a head for three courses, £70 for four and £82 for five, with a little off as the table grows. That includes the food, the cooking, serving and washing up. Your night works it out for your table.

What do I need to provide?

A working oven, two rings, plates and glasses, and a table. We can bring plates and glasses for £6 a head. You provide the wine and we pour it.

When do you arrive?

Three hours before for three courses, and up to four and a half for five. We are usually gone an hour after the last plate.

What about allergies?

Tell us about everyone at the table. We ask about all 14 major allergens, write the menu around them and read it back in writing, a week before. Your kitchen cannot be allergen-free, so for a very severe allergy, we will talk it through with you first.

Do you bring staff?

Beca or Tomos on their own for up to nine, with a second person from ten guests for £90. It keeps the kitchen quiet and the service quick.

How far ahead do I need to book?

Saturdays go about two months ahead, and midweek dinners often a fortnight or less. It is always worth a ring.

You have the table. We will bring the dinner.

Your guests, your courses and a style: the menu, the cost and when we arrive. Then Beca rings to write the real one with you.
