What we do

Six jobs. Same base under all of them.

All services and prices

01

Block paving

Concrete and clay block paving laid in herringbone on a proper base with a contrasting border and a drained fall, in charcoal, silver, buff and brindle, for driveways that take a car every day for decades.

From £95 per square metre including excavation, sub-base, edging, drainage, blocks, kiln-dried sand and waste removal.

02

Resin bound driveways

Resin bound aggregate trowelled seamlessly over a new base or sound existing concrete or tarmac, permeable so it needs no soakaway, in a dozen stone blends, with the UV-stable resin that does not yellow.

From £110 per square metre including a new tarmac base, or from £68 per square metre over sound existing concrete or tarmac.

03

Tarmac driveways

Hot-rolled tarmac driveways on a full sub-base with a granite sett or block edging and a drained fall, for long drives, sloping drives and anyone who wants the toughest surface for the money.

From £70 per square metre including excavation, sub-base, edging, two-layer tarmac and drainage.

04

Patios and paths

Patios, paths, steps and low retaining walls in porcelain, Indian sandstone, Welsh limestone or setts, laid on a full mortar bed with a fall and a drain, with circles, borders and lighting if you want them.

From £120 per square metre in porcelain or sandstone including excavation, sub-base, full mortar bed, pointing and drainage.

05

Drainage, kerbs and edging

Linear channels, soakaways and gullies that stop a drive flooding the garage, council-approved dropped kerbs so you can legally cross the pavement, and edging and small retaining walls that hold everything in.

Linear channel and soakaway from £480.

06

Cleaning and sealing

Block paving and patios pressure-washed, re-sanded, re-pointed and sealed so they look new and stay that way, plus repairs to sunken areas, loose blocks and failed edges on drives we did and drives we did not.

Clean, re-sand and seal from £6 per square metre.

What is underneath

The part you never see decides whether it sinks.

Most failed driveways were laid on sand over soil. Ours are dug out to 250 mm and built up in layers, each one compacted before the next, and we photograph the base before it is covered so you can see what you paid for.

How we work

Four promises on every drive.

Built from the bottom up

Excavation to 250 mm, a geotextile membrane, 150 mm of compacted crushed stone in two layers, then the surface. It is why ours do not sink where the car sits.

Water has somewhere to go

A fall to a linear channel at the garage or a soakaway in the garden, sized for the area. No puddles, no planning application, no flooded neighbour.

One figure per square metre

Measured, drawn and priced with the base, edging, drainage, skips and VAT included. Changes are priced before they happen.

Ten years, insurance-backed

Sinking, rutting, cracking and loose edges, covered in writing for ten years. We have never had a claim that was not a tree root.

Block paving

Carl photographed the sub-base before a block went down and sent us the pictures. Five days later we had a herringbone drive that has not moved a millimetre in three years, and a drain where the puddle used to be.

Block paving

Two other quotes were going to lay blocks straight on the old concrete. Stonebridge broke it out and built a proper base, cost about £900 more, and I understand now why the neighbours' drive has sunk and ours has not.

Resin bound

Resin bound on a seafront drive. Nia talked us out of the cheap resin that yellows and showed us hers from four years ago. No joints for the sand, no soakaway needed, looks like the day it was laid.

Questions people ask before they ring

How much does a new driveway cost?

Block paving from £95 a square metre, resin bound from £110, tarmac from £70, all including the base, edging, drainage and VAT. A typical 50 square metre drive is £3,500 in tarmac, £4,800 in block paving and £5,500 in resin. The measured quote is free.

Do I need planning permission?

Not for ours. Permission is only needed when a new drive over five square metres drains onto the road. We drain every drive to a soakaway, a channel or a lawn, and we design it that way on the drawing so you can see it.

How long does it take?

A typical driveway four to six days, a patio three to six, a resin overlay two days plus curing. We give dates at the quote; the thing that moves them is rock or a buried tank where the plan said clay, and we ring you the day it happens.

What is under the drive?

A geotextile membrane and 150 mm of crushed limestone compacted in two layers, on every job, photographed before it is covered. The quotes that are a thousand pounds cheaper are usually leaving this out.

Can I park on it straight away?

Tarmac and block paving the next day. Resin bound: walk on it after 24 hours, drive on it after three days. Patios: walk on after a day, furniture after three.

Get it measured.

Nia visits, measures, works out the drainage and draws it. The price per square metre arrives within two days with the base, the edging, the drains and the skips in it.
