Four teams in the west Wales league

League teams

Two men’s teams, one ladies’ and one mixed, playing home and away, from September to April. Team practice is on Thursday. If you want to play to win, ask Eleri to have a look at you.

Competitive badminton is fast and very rude to your thighs. It is also a lot of fun, if you like that sort of thing.

The club runs four teams in the west Wales league, with matches on weeknights against clubs from the three counties. A match is usually three pairs, playing best-of-three games, and it takes an evening, followed by whatever the home team has put out for supper.

Team practice is Thursday from 8pm to 9:30pm on two courts, with Eleri on one and match play on the other. It is by invitation, which sounds grander than it is: ask, and she will watch you play on a Wednesday. If you are nearly there, she will tell you what to work on.

We take the results seriously for about an hour. We have never been promoted to anything important, and nobody is losing any sleep.

Questions about league teams

What standard is it?

From decent club player to very good county level, and we are at the lower-to-middle end. A trial on a Wednesday tells both of us all we need to know.

Can I play for the team and still come on club nights?

Please do. Club nights need the better players as well, and they do not mind.

Your first night is free.
