I was 58 and had not held a racket since school. Eleri spent ten minutes on how to hold the thing and did not laugh. By Christmas I had moved up to Wednesdays, where I lose to a retired vicar every week and could not be happier.

What people say.
Sample reviews on a demonstration site, with first names only. One of them sat out for twenty minutes, and the changing rooms did not impress her.

Six of them, one with four stars.

I moved here for work and knew nobody. Turned up on a Wednesday. Alun put my name on the board, and I have been to three weddings of people I met on that bench.
We came fifth out of six last season, and I have rarely been so pleased about it. The practice on Thursday is hard, but Eleri really does make you better, and the suppers away at the other clubs are worth the drive.
My daughter would not do any sport at school. She goes every Saturday now. They told me exactly who to speak to about anything before I had even asked, and I stayed in the gallery for the first month. They did not mind at all.
I took in a racket I had paid too much for. Alun told me so, restrung it at a lower tension than I asked for, and it was much better. I was not given a choice in the matter, which I have since come to accept.
A lovely club, but it can get busy on a Wednesday. At the wrong end of the term I sat out for twenty minutes between games, and the leisure centre’s changing rooms have seen better days. Worth it for the £3, mind.
About the four stars
Delyth is right, on both counts.
At the start of September and January, Wednesdays get crowded, and you will sit out more. Alun now shortens the games to 15 points when there are more than 28 on the board. The changing rooms are the leisure centre’s, and we have raised them at every users’ meeting since about 2011.
